Find out if you have forgotten funds, Complete guide to the Central Bank system

The Central Bank of Brazil (BC) has made available an online service, the Sistema Valores a Receber (SVR), which allows Brazilians to check whether they have any money forgotten in banking institutions. Here is what you need to know to check online with your CPF, the withdrawal deadline and more.

CONSULT NOW

The SVR is a digital platform from the Central Bank that helps individuals, companies and relatives of deceased people to check whether they have any unclaimed funds in banks or other financial institutions. Queries to the system, which have been suspended since April 2022, were resumed last Tuesday (28), accessible through the website “valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br/publico”. To find out if they are entitled to any withdrawal, users only need to provide their CPF and date of birth, or their CNPJ and the date the company was opened.

For now, the SVR only confirms whether or not there are funds to be withdrawn, without revealing the amount. This information will be available from 10 am next Tuesday (7), on the same website. This is also the date on which withdrawals will begin. The total amount to be distributed is R$1.4 billion, benefiting 38 million CPFs and 2 million CNPJs. To help Brazilians understand better, TechTudo has prepared a list with six frequently asked questions about money forgotten in banks, including guidance on checking, withdrawing and how to avoid scams.

1. What is the website to check if I have funds to be withdrawn?

The only official platform for consulting and requesting refunds is Valoresareceber.bcb.gov.br. Other websites that appear similar to the Central Bank website are not official and may be scams by cybercriminals trying to steal your data.

2. What types of funds can be redeemed?

Unclaimed funds from banks and financial institutions can be from:

– Current or savings accounts closed with remaining balance;

– Capital shares and distribution of net surpluses of former credit union members;

– Unclaimed resources from closed consortium groups;

– Fees charged unduly;

– Installments or expenses of credit operations charged unduly;

– Closed pre- or post-paid payment accounts with remaining balance;

– Registered accounts held by brokers and distributors closed with a remaining balance;

– And other resources available for reimbursement in institutions.

3. How do I check if I have funds to be withdrawn?

To find out if you have money left in banks, visit the SVR website and enter your CPF and date of birth, or CNPJ and date your company was opened. For now, the system only indicates whether or not you have funds to be withdrawn. If the query returns a positive result, return to the website from 10 am on March 7, next Tuesday, to find out the amount owed and how to request a refund.

4. When do withdrawals of forgotten funds begin?

Starting March 7, you will be able to see the amount you are due to receive and request a withdrawal. The total amount to be distributed is R$1.4 billion, benefiting 38 million CPFs and 2 million CNPJs.

5. What has changed in the Amounts Receivable System?

SVR has some updates. Now, it will no longer be necessary to schedule accesses based on the date of birth or date of opening of the company. The system now has a virtual waiting room for assistance when there is excess access. In addition, it is possible to check resources of a deceased person as an heir or legal representative.

6. How to avoid scams related to money forgotten in banks?

The first step to avoid scams is to make sure you are actually on the official website of the Sistema Valores a Receber. Pay attention to the domain of the page: criminals can create websites that look similar to the Central Bank website and make small changes to the URL to trick unsuspecting victims.

Also, remember that:

– The Central Bank does not send links or contact you to discuss funds to be received or confirm your personal data;

– Only the institution that appears in the Amounts Receivable System can contact you, and will never ask for your password;

– Avoid clicking on suspicious links sent via email, SMS, WhatsApp or Telegram.

– The institutions that owe the amounts do not require payment of fees to return the money. Therefore, never make transfers to receive these amounts.”
