Although Auxilio Brasil had a higher value than the old Bolsa Família, with the new update, the two programs now have exactly the same financial aid value. After all, today they are both the same program, because with the return of the Workers' Party Government, Auxílio Brasil changed its name and went back to being called Bolsa Família. This means that those who received Auxílio Brasil continue to receive the same benefit, but now with the name ''Bolsa Fámilia''.

And as for those who still do not receive any of the benefits, they can apply for the ''Bolsa Família'', which thanks to the most recent updates, has a benefit as good as the old ''Auxílio Brasil''.

Bolsa Família: Additional amount for children

One of the benefits of the program is that it provides an additional amount to families with children aged 0 to 36 months. In other words, there will be additional financial support to help with development in the first years of life. 

In addition, the benefit is subject to periodic adjustments in accordance with ongoing reviews and eligibility criteria. This will ensure that the social program is properly adapted to meet the needs of the most vulnerable population. 

There is also a benefit aimed at sports practice among children and adolescents, resulting in special financial assistance for the purchase of sports equipment and helping with accessibility to training related to sports practice.

Criteria and Requirements for receiving Bolsa Família

In order to receive Bolsa Família benefits, you will need to meet a series of requirements. The main one is related to the “family’s monthly per capita income”, that is, how much you and your family earn per month will be considered, divided by the number of members in your family. 

Family Income: To be eligible for the benefit, your family's per capita income must be a maximum of R$ 218 (poverty situation). In other words, if the amount earned by working family members divided by the number of people leaves less than 218 reais for each person, this means that they will be able to receive the aid.

Unemployed – CLT – MEI:  If you are within the salary range mentioned above, even if you are a CLT or MEI, you can receive the Bolsa Família benefit.

Registration in the Single Registry (CadÚnico): To receive the benefit, you must be registered with CADúnico. After registering, you will need to wait for the computerized system to analyze all the necessary rules of the Program.

  • Entry into Bolsa Família is not automatic, as the Federal Government analyzes the program's budget limit.

Documents Required for Bolsa Família

Applicant:

  • Document (ID or driver's license);
  • Proof of address;
  • Voter registration card or CPF;
  • Proof of guardianship: document proving guardianship of the declared dependent or custody document 

Other family members:

  • Document with photo (RG);
  • CPF;
  • Work card (If you have one).
  • Birth certificate 
  • Marriage certificate (if married)
  • Other important documents:
  • Proof of vaccination;
  • Proof of school enrollment and school attendance of your dependents;
  • Proof of prenatal care, only in the case of pregnant women.

Step by step guide to requesting the benefit

  1. Access the Single Registry (CadÚnico): To register, you will need to access the website or the official CadÚnico application on your cell phone or computer.
  2. Fill out the pre-registration form: After accessing CadÚnico, you must fill out the pre-registration form.
  3. Schedule an appointment in your city: After completing the pre-registration, you must schedule an in-person appointment, which must be done at the city hall or (CRAS) in your respective city.
  4. Gather the necessary documents: It is necessary to gather all the documents mentioned in the previous topic, they will be requested in order to approve the benefit.
  5. Submit your documents to the service center: On the scheduled day, you must submit all your documents to the service center. There, you can complete your registration. Once this is done, you must wait for the benefit to be approved. You will be updated on the progress through the app or website.
